Working while not drinking can be challenging if you work in a office culture that has happy hours, team bonding or drinks in the office in any fashion.
It’s not even that I just want to go home right after work, I like some of my colleagues and would be down to hang out with them for a while, but preferably in a non-boozy setting. Food is always a great choice.
On the whole, I sense that feelings around not drinking are changing for the better and its not so “weird” to pass on drinking at happy hour or skipping it all together.
Ideally, you can find a way to rally your colleagues to do something that doesn’t truly revolve around alcohol, but still achieves the same effect of connecting off-hours. I personally think an office game night, cooking class or fun athletic challenge (that respects everyone’s ability and capability level) can be an awesome alternative to the stale old bar.
