I happened to stop drinking in college. It was a very painful and weird experience that I desperately needed.
Looking back as a real life adult, I realize how unusual it is and thought perhaps I could share some thoughts / tips.
1 – remember college is about discovering more about yourself and how to exist as you in the world
2 – try to embrace the fact that people are never really paying that much attention to you and the people that are paying attention to you don’t care that you don’t drink
3 – find or build a community – the internet was still in its infancy (compared to what it is today) when I was in college, but if it was today, I can assure you Reddit would be my daily go to
4 – reach out to your campus for resources, often these come from the student life or student health teams, and I can assure you that you are not alone in your quest for a sober community on campus
5 – find hobbies that energize you
