The rise of “alcohol free” mixers and beverages is undeniable – I mean that is the primary reason I created this website – as someone curious about what the rise of the trend is about, I figured it could be helpful to lay out some thoughts on the topic.
I’m not afraid to say I have three main concerns about drinking these new “alcohol free” mixers which have popped up recently:
1 – Some of them may actually contain alcohol as in the US, companies can refer to something as “alcohol free” if it contains up to 0.5% alcohol
2 – They are often loaded with sugar to compensate for the fact they alcohol free
3 – Drinking a mixer that is effectively pretending to be an alcohol mixer makes me uncomfortable as someone committed to abstaining from alcohol completely – it’s more of a vibe thing e.g. I’m not trying to replace booze with a booze wannabe, I’m trying to stay booze free
Now these feelings are personal to me, but perhaps other people feel similarly so I figured it could be helpful to share them.
